DUNFERMLINE MEP VISITS ECO FRIENDLY B&Q STORE
Local MEP Catherine Stihler [Labour] today met with employees of the Dunfermline B&Q Store to discuss the companies sustainability programmes and exchange views on issues such as home efficiency and carbon emission reduction.
Kingfisher plc, who own B&Q, invited Mrs. Stihler to visit the store and to see first hand how they are actively involved in practical solutions for sustainability.
Mrs. Stihler stated:
“It was a pleasure to meet our local B&Q’s Store Manager, Andrew Stones, and the staff.
“It cannot be understated how important it is that businesses engage in and develop sustainability programmes.
“B&Q have introduced a wide range of energy saving and sustainable products which is clearly helping consumers to reduce their environmental impact.
“The European Parliament is an environmental champion. I am delighted that the Kingfisher Group actively support a number of policies that Labour MEPs have backed, including cutting EU emissions to 30% by 2020 and banning the illegal logging of timber.
“A sustainable future is something that we must all work towards and I am pleased to see that Kingfisher are developing pioneering products and services”.
