Re: "Fiorella Ghilardotti" Fund trainees - period 2010-2014

Dear colleagues,

On 2 February 2010, the Bureau decided to re-launch the "Fiorella Ghilardotti" Fund for traineeships. Following the decision of the Bureau, the Selection Committee is composed by Vice-President Veronique DE KEYSER and Vice-President Stephen HUGHES as Members of the Bureau, Jean-Louis VERHEYDEN as representative for the Secretary General and Ute MÜLLER as Head of Human Resources.

Every year, 3 young persons will have the possibility to be trainees for 3 months within the Group's Secretariat. The main objective is to give the trainee the opportunity to do research work and have practical experience in the areas of social and employment rights, women's rights, non-discrimination, equal opportunities, freedom and fundamental rights. Consequently, the priority committees where these 'Fiorella Ghilardotti" trainees will work will be WOMEN, EMPL, LIBE, DEVE and AFET.

The "Fiorella Ghilardotti" trainees will be chosen by the Selection Committee. This selection will be based on the profile and merit of the candidates, irrespective of his/her nationality. For all other aspects of the traineeship period, the "Francis-Vals-Fund-rules" will apply.

The calendar to welcome the first "Fiorella Ghilardotti" Fund trainee within the first period of the new legislative period 2009-2014, will be as follows:

• 1 June 2010: deadline for application of candidates
• End June / early July 2010: meeting of Selection Committee and selection of trainees
• Traineeship period: 1 September - 30 November 2010
