'Baby Shaker' Game

Sir,

 

I write in reference to Apple’s ‘Baby Shaker’ game, which has since been withdrawn by the company (your report, 23rd April 2009).
 
It is appalling that this game was ever in existence.  Apple ought to have recognized that this game was blatantly distasteful and could have promoted dangerous behaviour.  There is strong evidence which indicates that shaking a child or infant is extremely dangerous.  Even shaking a baby once could induce long-term brain damage, and even death.   
 
It is greater public awareness over the dangers of shaking children that we need, not inappropriate games produced by companies who care more about profits than childrens' welfare.
